Project Purrfect Adoption
Problem: A quality image makes the difference in motivating someone to adopt an animal. However, understaffed shelters often do not have the time or money to take high-quality photos of their cats and dogs. Shelters often use intake photos of animals on their adoption profiles, which are typically poorly lit, low-quality, and display the animal in a frightened and vulnerable state.
Solution: Let’s volunteer to take high-quality shots of animals in one of the largest local shelters, CNY SPCA. My art direction partner Emma Michelson organized and completed the photoshoot, and I went and met the cats and took notes on each other their personalities. I gave the profiles a copy makeover, transforming them from dry, boring bios to captivating profiles ready for adoption. These efforts will dramatically improve animals’ profiles and, thus, adoption rates.
